Week 44 2008
The night frost is here
Potatoes. The night frost is a reality now, and we have just gotten the last potatoes in side this week.
The carrots have just about ripened outside in the fields. Gradually as the frost comes, the carrot tops wither, and it is no longer possible to get them by the top; which is far the best and most gentle way to get the carrot out of the soil.
Therefore we have to do it like we do with the winter carrots: with a chain. Instead of being lifted by the top, a vibrating chain is lifting/digging them up with the soil. The dirt is shaken off by the vibrating chain, and only the carrots move on up.

Cauliflower. This week we are selling pretty cauliflowers, which we get from a sub supplier. This is a warning to people, who say that they cannot taste the difference between organic and traditional vegetables: Do not buy the organic cauliflowers.
They taste so great that you will never go back to the other once.
