Week 42 2008
Potato holiday
It is week 42 and school is out for a week. Not a lot of kids wonder about the fact that originally this holiday began, because the children were had to stay home, to help harvesting the potatoes.
Nowadays no more than 2 persons are needed to handle even the big areas. There is probably a lot of school kids who are happy about that fact.
We have almost all the potatoes in storage now, and are counting on getting the last once inside by next week, where they will be away from the frost. We store as many potatoes as possible, and the rest stays
in the fields in clamps all covered up in straw and plastic. There they will stay fresh and pretty until spring.
After years and years of experience, we have chosen the sorts we grow, because of their taste, consistence and disease resistance. Especially mould is a disease that makes it harder to grow more different organic kinds.
The good, tasty and firm when cooked sorts we deliver in the wintertime is: Ditta, Marabel, Jutlandia and Sava
